St. Coletta Day School of Milwaukee (SCDS) is truly a one-of-a-kind educational experience designed specifically with students with special needs in mind and at heart. But don’t just ask us, ask the parents and students who call SCDS home…

“We’re really pleased with the program Savanna is in. We’ve seen a lot of growth in her, both academically and socially since she started. There’s so much camaraderie among the families, among the teachers and students. St. Coletta’s is making Milwaukee great by developing these young minds into young people to be active in the community when they are adults.”

From a three term member of our Board of Directors
"I want to share how thrilled I am to be part of St. Coletta's! When I joined the board in 2008, there were only four board members and one classroom, but I could clearly see what the St. Coletta potential was! In 2008, there was one classroom with a teacher (Mr. Bill) and one teacher's aide (Rachel). We now have two teachers and two teachers' aides and are preparing for a transition program to start with the 2017-2018 school year! We have been talking about this for at least as long as I have been on the board. During this time we became an accredited private school, which means that our processes and teaching meet high standards! In addition, we have added new programs -- music therapy and dance; our students now use iPads and thanks to the Urban Ecology Center have had a wonderful trip to northern Wisconsin in mid-winter! Every time I come to the Christmas pageant, I am moved to tears by the loveliness of the play and the performance of the kids!" ~ Sandi T, three term member, St Coletta Day School Board of Directors

What does St Coletta mean to our family?
It means a child who ALWAYS wants to go to school every single day.
It means true progress in academics as well as community involvement.
It means a very extended family as Savanna calls all her classmates sisters and brothers.
It means truly dedicated teachers, and staff we also call dear friends.
It means knowing our Savanna is truly cared for.
We know this most well while she was recently at Children's for 12 days.
So many visitors, cards, gifts, videos, pictures and prayers!
It means knowing Savanna WILL become a productive citizen due to her experiences at this amazing school!!

A new & promising beginning!
My son, Aamir started at St. Coletta Day School the 2016-2017 school year. It was a rough beginning as most transitions are, but I think that it has gotten better over time. He has adjusted well to the staff and students, and continues to try to do his best daily. I know that this is a good fit for my son [Aamir] and I can't wait to see what the future holds on his journey at St. Coletta's. I just want to thank the teachers and the staff and students for being patient with Aamir and his transition to the new atmosphere. Looking forward to great things in the future. ~ Paula C, Mother of St Coletta Day School Student, Aamir.

Music to our ears!
When our son started at St Coletta's in 4th grade we were unsure of when, or IF he would even be able to go onto High School. He had been bullied at his previous school, was behind in his classwork, and he didn't understand how to control himself or to recognize his feelings. With A LOT of patience, encouragement, and love from the Staff at St Coletta and St Sebastians, Matthew caught up with his age group and made a smooth transition to High School. While he was at St Coletta he and his classmates were able to attend Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra concerts a couple of times a year. It was because of this experience that he fell in love with the cello and began to learn to play this beautiful instrument. Matthew is graduated from High School Student on the High Honor Roll, and was a member of the National Honor Society. He currently enrolled at MSOE, studying Software Engineering. As we look at him today and see all that he has accomplished, it's hard to remember that scared, angry little boy with the uncertain future. We will always be forever grateful for the staff and families of St Coletta Day School! This is truly a community of support, caring and possibilities.

Succeeding in High School!... I wanted you to see Terrence's report card and to show you because of you and the teachers of St Coletta he made the High Honor Roll his first semester in high-school, with a GPA of 3.6. He's grown so much!CJ is in THE ABSOLUTE best place on earth right now, without a doubt! He’s grown so much in this short time and it’s because you and your staff care, and it shows! I feel so blessed - beyond words...
CJ has graduated from the school and Transition program and is exploring more employment opportunities. Currently he is working at Collectivo Coffee. So many of the skills he learned at his time with St. Coletta Day School he transferred to his employment. ~ Kim J, parent of CJ, St Coletta Day School Alumni; class of 2024 |
